My Blog Post For BrassMedia

There are three main reasons why I want to work for BrassMedia. These reasons are: the remarkable story of how it began, the publication’s purpose, and because I feel like I would be the perfect candidate for this position.  My interest in working for BrassMedia began when I heard the incredible story of how Bryan Sims started the company.  A fellow Corvallis local who attended High School with Sims, explained to me how he began BrassMedia out of his parent’s garage shortly after his family was hit by the hundreds of lay-offs Hewlett Packard announced at their Corvallis branch. This story really hit home for me because I remember how unsettling those times were.  There were so many lay-offs in our community that it seemed to affect everyone. I didn’t know one person in our community that wasn’t affected by the lay-offs in someway.

The next reason why I’m interested in working for BrassMedia is its message.  I believe that things have changed in our generation and will continue changing as long as time keeps ticking by. Our generation consumes more media, uses more technology and is more innovative than any other generation has ever been. If we are to continue to grow and diversify ourselves, I believe our money will have to follow suit. BrassMedia is the only publication of its kind that is completely centered on the idea of talking TO not AT our generation about understanding and exploring new ways of using our money.

The third reason why I want to work for BrassMedia is because I believe I’m a perfect fit for the internship position. Not only would I consider it to be an honor and a privilege to work for such a remarkable publication, but I believe given the chance, I could exceed the expectations of an intern for BrassMedia. I have experience working with a different publication, Holt International Family Magazine. During my internship there, not only did I contribute to the magazine’s layout, but I also published an article in the fall issue of 2007.

I have the motivation and drive to be an excellent candidate for BrassMedia. With my strong work ethic as well as my experiences, I feel  I would be a great contribution to your publication. I look forward to speaking with a BrassMedia representative in person.
